Delivery

Delivery, duties and the forwarder question

Most first orders stall on shipping, not on the product. We quote EXW, FOB, CIF or DDP.

  1. Spec and sample

Send a door photo or cylinder size. We send a sample to confirm fit.

  2. Production and QC

Batch production around 30 days after spec and artwork confirmation.

  3. Delivery

DDP, or coordinate with your own forwarder.

What DDP covers

On DDP we handle freight, customs clearance and duties where available, so the price you see is the price you pay.

No forwarder? We can arrange shipping and send you the customs documents, including the HS code.

What we check, and what we keep on file

A defect found in the field costs more than the lock. Inspection is documented at every stage, and you approve the finished batch before it ships.

Incoming material
Documented inspection with batch records.
In-process
Checked at each production stage.
Final inspection
Full inspection, sampling, or your own inspection plan.
Packing check
Quantity, packaging and labelling verified before shipment.
Traceability
Batch records let us trace back to the source material.
Complaints
Documented process with corrective action.

Testing capability

  • Lock durability and cycling
  • Tensile and impact load on the shackle and locking mechanism
  • Humidity and temperature ageing
  • Salt spray corrosion resistance
  • Surface and dimensional defects under optical inspection

Testing parameters and reports are specific to each product. Tell us which standard your project requires and we will confirm what applies — we do not apply one product's test data to another.

Pre-shipment photos and video are sent for your approval before the goods leave.

Ask about our inspection process

Common questions

Six questions that decide most first orders. The full list covers MOQ, keys, lead time, shipping and quality.

What does Self Storage Lock supply for a self-storage facility?

Disc padlocks, cylinder locks, roll-up door latches and hasps, and overlock hardware for vacant units, together with a keying plan that ties them together. Most facilities take a mix rather than a single part number.

How do operators usually phase a first order?

Most start with a sample on one door and a first phase of units, then scale once the fit and the finish are confirmed. That keeps the first order low-risk while the price stays on the production schedule.

What proof can you show before a first order?

The SGS supplier verification report dated 30 October 2025, the ISO 9001:2015 certificate, CE and RoHS declarations, and the inspection record from a batch already shipped. Send the list you need and we will confirm what exists.

Can we start with one site and add others later?

Yes, and it is the usual pattern. The specification and the keying plan are recorded against an order reference, so a second site is added to the same structure rather than specified from scratch.

What happens when a site needs a replacement part two years later?

Every order is produced against a written specification held with its order reference. Quote that reference and the replacement is made to the same drawing and the same keying, which is what keeps a site from drifting onto mixed hardware.

Where do we send a door photo or a drawing?

By email or WhatsApp, whichever is easier. A photo with a ruler in frame and a drawing of the hasp or the cylinder cut-out usually settles the fit question before a quotation is issued.

Before you ask

The awkward questions, answered in public

Price, MOQ and lead time are easy to publish. The questions that decide a first order are the uncomfortable ones — and we would rather answer them on a page than in a call after you have already formed a view.

Seven of them come up again and again. Each one has a full answer, including the parts that are not flattering.

Your price is higher than another supplier
Four differences explain most gaps; we will compare your other quotation line by line.
Will it fit my doors?
Fit is confirmed by a physical sample on your own door, not by a drawing.
I am not sure your batches will match
First Article Inspection before every run, with the specification stored against your account.
I have not heard of you
Check documents rather than recognition — audit dates, certificates and a batch record.
Your lead time is too long
Samples from 5 days, batches around 30 days, and 99.3% on-time delivery measured.
500 pcs is more than I need
Sample first, phase by model, or combine families to clear the threshold together.
Switching supplier is a hassle
Trial one or two models alongside your current supplier; no site-wide changeover.
